Re: Should the heater pipe be a preventative maintenance part?

So glad I found this post. My son was working on the spark plug replacement and broke the plastic heater hose part as he was trying to get the wire harness that is right there un-clipped. I thought he leaned on it and broke it by being careless. I'm happier to know this is a common issue, so I guess...

I haven't heard about it with the Pathfinder motors, but I know that the exhaust manifolds are prone to cracking on both the first gen Xterra and the Titan. On my Titan the 430 code was the symptom. So, you might look carefully for exhaust or vacuum leaks.

It is a plastic bushing that holds the cable to the lever. There are aftermarket replacements available. A quick google search should get you a parts source and a youtube video.

I'm not a pro mechanic, but from what I know about motors, I'd have a hard time believing that one with the troubles they are telling you that one has would run smoothly, if at all. And, I'd think it would be throwing more codes then just a cam sensor.

Is it the original Rad? That would be my prime suspect at this point. I know a lot of Titan owners have had similar issues with overheating (including me) and replacing the rad was the solution.

Thanks! Several of those shots are closer to your neck of the woods, up around Sedona and the South Rim. Beautiful country!

I like it! My only concern would be if a piece of cargo slid around and hit the switch just right, it could pop open the hatch while you are driving. I'd think a about a cover plate for it or something.

Yep, My Titan is UpRev tuned. Most say that is needed on a Titan after bolting on headers to keep it from running lean, and it makes the most out of other mods too. It was well worth it on the Titan. Most estimates are an extra 50hp. Not sure there is much to be gained on a Pathy with it unless you ...
