I just did that exact switch. Went from the stock 265/65/17 to a 265/70/17 LT. The new tires are 25% heavier than the old ones since I went with the Light Truck rating to bump the sidewall thickness up from 7ply to 10ply for offroad use. Agreed, get the V8 if you can afford it. I own a V8 and drive a V6 on occasion; the V8 is a better experience all around.
