Re: Vehicle noise/Vibration - U Joint replacement

alecsey's link two posts above is a good one. Also, searching YouTube for Pathfinder / XTerra u-joint replacement is worthwhile. Just in case anyone here is in the same situation as me and winds up needing to replace their universal joints, RockAuto.com has the Spicer u-joints for under $15. They al...

Differential fill plug part num or thread specs

1) Does anyone have a PN for the front and rear differential fill plugs? 2) Alternatively, does anyone know the equivalent diameter and thread pitch specs so I can go to the local hardware store and buy a bolt to use instead of the fill plug! I've searched the forum, but did not find an answer. The ...

Overheating trans

Just adding my experience with my 2006 SE. I've had mine throw U1000 and lose power many times. One time I was towing, all other times I was driving slowly up more than 4000' vertical feet going up mountain passes. I've had it happen in 4WD and 2WD. I can repeat it on the same road if I drive slow, ...

How I fixed P0448 for free (dust clogged EVAP cannister)

I was intermittently getting P0448 for months. Eventually I was getting it continuously. (As in, I'd reset the engine codes, and I'd get P0448 again within a day or two.) I was completely uneducated on the EVAP system at first, so I wasn't sure what was going on or how to fix it. I googled around on...

Fixed!!!

OMG that was one of the harder things to fix!!! Here's what I did! Big thanks to the last fella that mentioned the Sawzall. Thus job needed one! My problem was the bottom bolt that goes through the rear shock had fused to the shock collar. When I got a 4' breaker bar on the bolt, the bolt would turn...

Advice on breaking fused rear shock bushing

I'm trying to change out the rear shocks. I'm having trouble removing the lower bolt holding the shock in. I can turn the bolt using a 4' breaker bar on the bolt. I'm also using a wrench on the nut. (Yes, the nut has a metal bracket holding it in, but I'm using a wrench to back that up and ensure th...

Fixed

Replacing the crank position sensor fixed my issue. I got a replacement part from O'Reillys for around $27 after tax. I've driven about 2000 miles on the new sensor, and I haven't had a problem. Prior the replacing the sensor, the vehicle couldn't make it more than 100 miles without dying or potenti...

Found it

Shoulda Googled around more. I found it. One has to take the passenger wheel off and then remove the black plastic wheel well cover. The sensor is fairly easy to see then.

Help locating crankshaft position sensor

I'm getting a P0335 crankshaft sensor error. Maybe I'm being retarded, but I'm struggling to find the crankshaft position sensor. Looking at the service manual, I can tell it's somewhere on the passenger side of the engine (or transmission???). However, I'm struggling to make out other details in th...
