My mpg display seems to reset after every engine start

When I got this truck a couple of weeks ago the mpg display read 18.2. I would reset it and duirng that drive it would display. but anytime I turn the engine off (which you would many many times in the life of a tank of gas) it resets to 18.2 mpg. So as a result I can never get a good sense of my mp...

Yes the VQ40 has had a change in recommended intervals .

In XTerras its the same.
VQ40 used to be recommend at 3750 (normal/light) or 7500 (severe service) in my 05
My former '15 XTerra with the same VQ40 however read "every 5000 miles" and had no severe or light service distinction.

Thanks for the synopsis on what good batteries in our range are.. I splurged a bit on my Xterra with a Bosch AGM Cell marine rated battery that was a bit oversize to boot. I wanted a battery with lots of reserve abiltiies since the Xterra is my Bug out vehicle which generally sits a lot partially lo...

2005 Xterra vs 2012 Pathfinder - Comparison+Contrast

The 2005-2015 Xterra and the 2005-2012 Pathfinder are on paper very similar vehicles and are from roughly same timeframe. They are both Nissan SUVs built on the F Platform, featuring a VQ40 engine mated to the RE5R05A 5 speed automatic transmission. They feature the same steering wheels , they share...

The aftermarket oil senders have been problematic in the R51's, so stick with the genuine Nissan part. The early R51's have an actual oil pressure gauge with a sending unit. Around 07 or 08, Nissan turn the oil pressure gauge into a dummy gauge and used an oil pressure switch, rather than a sender....

Sorry to bump an old thread..
But my oil pressure gauge just got stuck on the "middle" reading.

Whether engine is hot or cold idling or at 65 mph, indicated pressure stays same.

I just had my oil change done at local dealer a couple days ago.
Could the sensor have been "bumped"?

All Pathys of this generation (R51 aka 05 thru 12) offer 4WD rather than AWD. This is generally is taken to mean 2WD plus a 4WD mode (for many transfer cases in industry this also means 4Hi and 4 Lo as a choice) In the Pathy some transfer cases in select trims (LE) had a "auto" option in t...

Gas can holder that attaches to the Tow kit?

Looked around i this subforum but couldnt find in any thread..

I know about the aftermarket bumpers but they seem expensive and heavy.

Just looking for a Gas can mount that mounts into the tow hitch in the bumper.
Ideally hold at least 2 cans better 3....

Turns out my newish tires on the truck were already getting ruined by a bad alignment.. Truck tracked fine but the tech showed me the cupping on the tires..so i...

All VQ series motors are good motors, strong and hard as nails..

Hard to get them to break unless .......you do forced induction on them (I ahem have broken 2 VQ35de this way)

It's still doing it...

When stopped and engine runs rough in D, feels like the tranny is "catching" a bit then shifting into "N" the engine smooths .

I am worried the clutch material will see premature wear with whatever is going on

If you have a 2012, you should be running Nissan Blue coolant if it's original. It's service interval is 150,000 miles, so it doesn't make sense to do anything with it, especially replace the radiator! Unless the radiator is damaged, leave it alone. I say the same thing for the water pump, which is...

Anyone know if they are DOT egal in the USA?

Would love to have one of those. Unrefueled range is a highly desired feature for me.
