Well, the pathfinder starts and seems to perform like there was never a problem at this point. I am unable to diagnose it using the FSM and the Chilton's but alas I saw a picture in the Chilton's that answered one of my previous questions. The photograph shows the resistor in the engine bay on the w...

Ok, so it has been about not quite 2 months....I examined the EC section of the FSM and pondered my minimal skills and time and viola the Pathfinder started the next time I tried.....there definately was a problem, but I could not at that point get it to duplicate the aformentioned difficulties of sp...

Ok, Here is the end story. I tend to buy inexpensive parts for this Pathfinder due to the overall age and condition....but....I was on Amazon reading the reviews for the Cardone distributor, about 99 bucks....I saw a bimodal curve and was disturbed to see that while a lot of people were happy...ther...

1999 Pathfinder Distributor question

I want to gain some perspective here. I searched the forum and I think that and my (not very extensive) knowledge is starting to give me a picture but I will be working on the Pathfinder this week between classes. Please help me understand if I am going down the right path. Driving home at highway s...

timing belt failure

I really appreciate the pro-tip you shared about how you test to see if you have installed the timing belt with appropriate tension. I probably should have looked for advice on here before fixing my truck since this fix is only the second timing belt I have ever done. Looking back at this experience...

timing belt failure

I think I am coming out of a bad experience incredibly lucky and I would like to get any thoughts about what might lay ahead. I own a 99 pathfinder 4x4 220,000 miles and a 2003 frontier kingcab 166,000 miles, both have the same basic 3.3L V-6. About 15,000 miles ago I did the timing belt and water p...

Ok guys, It has been a bit of time here since I have commented on the situation. I have been pretty busy with grad school and work and was worried that if I tore into my wife's Pathfinder it might not go well.....so I waited until this last week when I had some time off in case things did not go wel...

Hey Hooligan, Thanks for the reply. I am going kind of slow at this as I am balancing my job and school so I need to shoehorn time in when my wife is not driving to do the work. I think I know what I am going to order... http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=3919416&cc=1356791&jsn=370 h...

Air Conditioner compressor shot? What else....

Ok, I have some questions here. So I have two Nissans, both with AC problems. The first one is a 1999 R50 4X4 that now my wife drives....really like that old car. It is kind of a beater, but it has proven to be a quality car for us. It stopped cooling a couple weeks ago here in Texas just before it ...

I purchased a 1999 Pathfinder a number of years ago with about 113,000 miles on it. It has been a terrific vehicle. Not much has been needed on it other than replacing worn parts....now it is about 215,000 mile and the air conditioner is acting up. This is the area for introductions so I am thinking...
