AC work

Not sure where AC (heating/cooling go in this forum), but I'll put my question here: I am installing a new pre-oiled compressor, and also a new condenser that has a receiver/drier/accumulator on it. I need to know about adding PAG in either of them. I could pour out what I find in original compresso...

Transmission temp guage

Since it still appears you can't get trans temp from the lower end Bluetooth scan tools and apps (not Bully Dog, etc), has anyone installed a analog/digital transmission fluid temp gauge with sensor actually at transmission? Eg, sensor thru pan or port in housing, not at the cooler. Or at least on a...

Your right, it is a 2005 manual. I found a 2008 manual and it had references to Intelligent Key. I haven't read it all yet. Mine is different than the youtube video. Mine is not push button start; I have to turn the cylinder, but no key required if the fob is in proximity. Looks like I'll be calling...

I may have answered my own confusion stated above.

Possibly the manual I was referring to does not cover 2010. It appears to have a 2005 date on it I didn't catch.

So, back to my question, best course of action? Dealer, or are non-dealer shops capable?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the reply. I have the type in the second link. So what is my best course of action? Dealer, or do non-dealer shops have the capability? But, read below, please. I was using this service manual for the procedure. It provides directions with and without Consult-II. It doesn't mention having...

Program New Keyfob

Anyone had luck with the procedure below? I spent about fifteen minutes and couldn't get step 2 to work. My hazards never flashed. I was using an original key from an original keyfob, trying to program a new one. In and out rapidly many many times. Then slowly many times. Never a flash from the haza...

Re: Programming instructions

I got this from http://www.courtesyparts.com/ ID CODE ENTRY PRODCEDURE Step 1) Sit in drivers seat, close and lock all doors. Step 2) Insert key into and remove it from ignition key cylinder more than six times within 10 seconds. (Hazard warning lamps will then flash twice). NOTE: Withdraw key comp...

Thanks for the detailed post. It could be a sticky to cover most questions on the topic! I guess the basic question is, is one trying to upgrade and go performance, or not. In my case, I don’t necessarily want more performance at the given costs (V8 rotors/calipers, EBC, HAWK, slotted, etc.). If i...

Thanks for the feedback. Not looking to upgrade, just want a repeat performance, ie another 150k on the brakes. I will change the fluid. And yes, to clarify, I am changing the rotors. Open to suggestions on something comparable to the OEMs. I saw where smj recommended the Raybestos Advanced Technolo...

OEM vs aftermarket pads

I plan to change my front pads soon (rears later) and plan to use OEM (D1060-ZP00C, $80) unless someone changes my mind. Reason: I have 155,000 miles on the factory pads and they have proven to perform extremely well. They are finally getting thin, but I’ve had no problem with them so far. It is m...

As long as you go uphill in 4LO only in STRAIGHT line, there is (theoretically) no additional stress to driveline, because all 4 wheels turn just about the same. This is especially (and practically) true in non-paved roads. So if that's your situation, you can safely shift into 4LO and pull that ri...

Just looked at the service manual and it appears both differential and transfer case yokes (they call them 'companion flange') are secured with a lock nut. So, I will remove front driveshaft.

Thanks guys.

Thanks smj. I was mistakenly thinking that the 4wd activation was at the hubs. Doc, I thought of that and will do that IF the yokes on both the front diff and front of transfer case are 'bolt on', versus slip on. I just haven't looked specifically at that in all my times under there thru the years. ...

Transfer case in low, rear wheels only

Does anyone know if there is a way to disconnect the front differential so the hubs do not engage when the transfer case is in the 4LO position? That would leave only the rear diff in low gearing mode, which is what I want. I need to pull a heavy boat up a steep long ramp and don't want the front an...
