dawgn86 - sorry for the late response... The route I took was: http://www.thenewx.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24370 I've also seen the claim that running with either cap off will allow the air to escape, as Disallow mentioned to you in his response. I think the front of the truck raised on ramps or a...

199 as your kinda-sorta-max is a good data point. Good to know that these vehicles will keep the engine about the same temp even with that kind of load! wow that is steep for the rad replacement. I was pulling my 28' travel trailer home this weekend, and the temp got all the way up to 199 on my Supe...

Yeah - doing this myself is something I would tackle if I had any free time. I'm lucky these days to just get the cars washed :) I don't like the thousand dollar price tag, but felt the price was about "right" given the price via courtesyparts.com and the labor rate. So far this dealer has...

I poked around a little more and found that the overflow tank was above the minimum, but below the max. I also found traces of a leak on the inside driver-side of the radiator and some minor puddling in the skid plate. So far no more than maybe a drop on the garage floor. Not sure if the leak is in ...

Matic-S is Castrol Multi-import ATF? That is good to know. How'd you find that out?

While I'm asking, do you have a readily-available coolant equivalent, or know what that is?

Thanks!

Are the newer fuel level senders more erratic?

Originally my fuel gauge was pretty solid and reliable, but the sender was replaced at 42k miles when it was (probably incorrectly) diagnosed as the problem with an evap leak. At the time I paid 50% of labor cost at the dealer, and have since been reimbursed by Nissan's customer service after the re...

Coolant - how hot?

I've been running a ScanGaugeII for several years and recently have seen higher than normal (I think) coolant temps. From memory, coolant while driving was usually ~193-206 F. Recently it seems to climb to about 215, and occasionally hits 218 momentarily. It will also drop to the low 200s, but I hav...

Sounds like it may be the same as my (assumed) vacuum leak. Is the pedal hard to press on the first push after the car is shut off? I am just starting to notice that my brake pedal is harder to push under load, and actually can feel significant differences in pressure if I rev the engine even a lit...

Re: Firm brake pedal with engine off - vacuum leak?

I may be wrong on the Pathfinder, but my memory - which admittedly could be failing me :) - is that the brake pedal was normally as easy (or nearly as easy) to depress with the engine off as with the engine on, at least once or so because of "stored" vacuum. Subsequent presses become firme...

Firm brake pedal with engine off - vacuum leak?

As the title says my brake pedal is firm without the engine running. It softens to normal within a second or two of starting the engine, and while shutting the engine off I can feel it become firm and tries to raise back up within a second or two. Otherwise, braking behavior is normal save for a sma...

How does one remove the sunvisor holder?

How does one remove the sunvisor holder/retainer, AKA the little the plastic clip that the sunvisor clips into? The parts diagram from Courtesy Parts shows a screw - not necessarily for the "holder" end - but if there is one it is completely under the plastic. Any thoughts on how to get th...

Our trucks seem to work great as-built until they experience the well known cross contamination problem. This and other stories really make me think the solution is a better built replacement radiator, but the question is what should we buy? From what I have read (but not yet researched), Nissan is ...

Navara is the European/Asian/Australian (and maybe some other locations?) name for the Frontier.
