I don't know anyone up that way for a Passat. Ask around or check out a Passat/VW forum and I'm sure someone will know someone. Thought maybe it was a TDI...I know a lot of folks in those circles. Acura dealers are hit and miss...kind of like Honda. There's a great Honda dealer down below Canton. '...

Btw, you haven't seen shit until you've been to an Acura dealership (wow!)
Don't tell me that - I was just beginning to get over my fear of Honda (3 bad transmissions in my '99 Accord) and was considering an Acura TL SH-AWD!!!

My experience over the years (and owning just about every brand) is VW is the worst ever. Toyota is a close second. I've never found a VW dealer I felt was worth two squirts. I have to drive about an hour for a Toyota shop I can stomach. What kind of VW are you having trouble with? There's a lot of...

Local (and selling) dealer: * tried to sell me new accessory "belts" (yes, there is only one) at 37k for $143 ($16 belt). 83k now, and still no signs of wear. * tried to sell me new front brakes at 30k, they still measured 6mm at 37k, and they were replaced due to warping at 56k * charged...

3M VHB for running boards?

After 5+ years, both of my running board plastic cover-thingies are about 50% detached. Does anyone have a specific recommended double-stick tape? 3M VHB (1/2"?) seems like a good candidate, but may be overkill. Would 3614 be a better option? I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I want to get the dome light / sunglass holder / sunroof switch assembly out. In the pic a couple replies up it looks like there are two clips above the sunglass portion of the assembly. Is there anything else really holding it in? I tried pulling it out...

Fuel sender revisited

I mentioned on here before that my fuel sender was replaced out of warranty in 2008. Occasionally I'll get 3 or so fill-ups in a row where the sender sticks, and it usually takes about 1/2 a tank of burn-off for everything to equal out. The problem goes away, then comes back weeks or months later. I...

I'm sure I'm missing something, but why get the joint connector rather than just re-route the hoses as shown here:

Thanks, Tech!

Tech, So would you recommend J or S for our vehicles, and is J even available anymore? NTB08-049b says to use Matic J if Matic S is not available for 5 speed RWD ATs. I know the mechanic that did my flush used something like 13 quarts of S on my 60k service. I think the Nissan dealer just did a dump...

Re: Radiator Replacement vs. Bypass

I mentioned in the "OMG, Tranny Failed..." thread that SpectraPremium has a replacement which seems to be widely available. This forum also mentions Koyo, Silla, and Performance as well for the X: http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/xterra/8957-radiator-killed-my-transmission.html Carpartswhole...

2 part question - 1.) I asked a few months ago, and there was a little banter in another thread here, but is it pretty much the consensus that this issues exists with 06+ as well as the 05s? 2.) Assuming the recent discussions about water cooling trans fluid better than air, has anyone put a new rad...

I'm pretty disappointed. In a nutshell: They tried to replace my perfectly fine accessory belt, or "belts" as the assistant service manager called it: http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewtopic.php?p=6116 They tried to sell me completely unnecessary brakes at 30k (about 30k before they needed ...

so if you want to turn this function back on you just complete the above steps again? it toggles from on to off? I'm fairly sure it will toggle it back. Worst case, pull the negative battery cable. The entry/exit function defaulted back to "on" after my fuel sender replacement and after a...

Glad to help, and glad it worked. It is insane how unhelpful and ignorant dealers can be and I'm still shocked that this isn't in the manual.
