Well, the pump will make a whirling noise if there is a leak that causes air in the system, so you may want to hold off on the pump until you replace the rack & pinion and bleed all of the air out of the system, unless you are 100% sure the pump is bad. They are usually pretty rugged and don't ...

Looks like you got a bad, new, rack and pinion assembly! The sad part is that my pump started to make a whirling sound which I was not happy to hear. I got this from Rockauto so I am hoping they can send me a replacement before turning in the bad unit. I got the pump on the way just need to order t...

Let us know how everything goes. Ok so got the part changed: rack and pinion + tie rods+ bushings......I thought I was clear free until I drove it for 7 miles and got off the exit and bam....the car began to make a whirling sound and steering stiff and gargaling noise. Checked the oil level and all...

I will keep you updated, taking the car in on Friday morning and picking it up on Saturday morning the latest. I called the mechanic and he was willing to accommodate me for those days. I am crossing fingers it is just those parts and nothing else.

No idea, depends on how low you are.
I am switching the whole part, I do have it to the level currently.

Have it checked to see if anything else is worn out, but you should prioritize those fixes. I am taking it this Friday or Saturday the latest to get them replaced. Hopefully that will fix this problem........ so far I only have 1 quart of Royal Purple ATF oil will that be enough to top off the powe...

Wobble front suspension

Yesterday I was driving when I hit a small bump (where two concrete meet) and my front part of the car began to wobble and making a knocking sound, I do have a loose rack and pinion, can this be causing it? I do have the part + tie end rods, also the gaskets to sustain the rack and pinion. Please he...

Rockauto has the hoses, as well. Thank you, I will get those too. I am noticing that my car rocks side to side when I go over a speed bump and the back suspension started to squeak. The shocks are new. A real common problem on these vehicles is the rear suspension links. Often the bushings will spl...

Well, it's about $50 more than the others, but if it were me, I'd go with the ACDELCO 36R0788, which carries a limited-lifetime warranty whereas most of the others are just a couple of years. But, if you want it, you better hurry because there is only 1 left! I would also get a couple of new tie ro...

Rack and pinion

I am starting to notice that my Rack and pinion is going out. I did had it inspected about 3 months ago and it was starting to slightly show some oil leak on the left side. I do have alignment problem in where when I go high speeds I have to twist the steering wheel to one side and slow speeds to an...

If the hoses are original, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them while replacing the radiator. Gates makes a lot of the Nissan radiator hoses, so if you want something close to OEM, get Gates #'s 22275, 22276 and 24170. If you want to do belts, Bando is an OEM supplier to Nissan. Get Bando #'s ...

Nissan Power Steering fluid is basically re-packaged NissanMatic Type "D" ATF....which is essentially Dexron II ATF. So, automatic transmission fluid or red power steering fluid is fine; I use Valvoline Maxlife full-synthetic ATF in mine. What you don't want to use is clear or amber power...

You didn't mention what brand you were looking for. The genuine Nissan part is # 21460-0W517 and sells for over $400 online and over $600 at the dealer. Nissan also offers their Value Advantage Line which is made by an OE company and is competitively priced with the aftermarket; that is part # B1D4...
