Re: Engine Z24 cuts out ONLY when turning left, WD21 1989

I remember working on a 2001 Buick Park Ave. that would stall out on right turns per the customer and I verified. Turned out to be a bad ignition switch. Terminal 1 on the switch provided power to both the turn signal switch AND the ECM. There was some apparent resistance within the switch for termi...

Re: Crappy Nissan battery.

With the purchase of the '12 Xterra to replace my Pathy, I decided to go with a Diehard Platinum AGM battery from Advance Auto Parts. It was $209 at the time, which was earlier this year. It's made by Clarios, which bought out Johnson Controls, and has a 3-year replacement warranty. Compared to the ...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

If you're going to replace the radiator, you might as well replace the heater pipes on the firewall before they break!

Re: Anyone here a member on clubfrontier.org?

Is anyone here an active member on the clubfrontier.org forums? I found a listing on their parts for sale forum for a set of wheels. I registered so I could contact the seller who is in the next town over from me, but members need to be registered for 10 days and have 10 posts before they can reply...

Re: 2008 Pathfinder w/275k miles

If it makes you feel any better, I have a 2008 SE 4x4 with 275,000 miles on it still going strong! Replaced timing chains at 148K, Moog quick struts and KYB Gas-a-just rear shocks at 250K. It's had its share of maintenance done, of course, and minor repairs over the years, but it keeps on going! I w...

Re: Reviews on the 2022 Pathfinder!

Biggest mistakes they did to the R52 was put a CVT transmission in it and not give it a name other than "Pathfinder!"

Re: TPMS sensor question

The R51 Pathfinders and D40 Frontiers all used 315-mhz TPMS sensors, so they will work, but they will have to be ID registered to the vehicle. This can be done a number of different ways. Easiest way would be to get a TPMS trigger tool, which runs about $15-$20 and a scan tool that can access the TP...

Re: Reviews on the 2022 Pathfinder!

I was at a Home Depot in Lynchburg, today, and saw my first one in person. I'm not sure I prefer the look over the R51, but it's definitely an approvement over the R52!

Re: Oil recommendations?

You can ask 20 different people and get 20 different answers when it comes to what's the best oil. Any API or ILSAC certified 5W30 motor oil will work just fine, conventional or synthetic. Nissan has changed their mileage intervals several times over the years, going from 3750 miles to 7500, back to...

Re: New Sludge Question

I believe I used to unbolt the idler arm from the frame and just lowered the linkage down for clearance. If you have a 4x4, you'll probably have to lower the front axle down or remove it. Now, that said, it's been an awfully long time since I pulled an oil pan on a WD21 Pathfinder! I would refer you...

Re: clicking and no start

Almost as smart as putting the oil filter right above the starter on VG30 engines so that oil can poor all over the starter ever time you change the oil!

Re: New Sludge Question

I've been down this road before, twice with Plymouth Dusters with Slant-6 engines and once with a customer's Pathfinder VG33E engine. My advice is to NOT use any chemical cleaners on it or try to "clean it up" unless you plan to remove the cylinder heads and send them out to be hot tanked ...

Re: RPMs bounce, SES, VDC OFF, and SLIP lights on and engine stalls - Crankshaft and Camshaft Position Sensors!!!

It's odd that one of those replacement cam sensors was plastic and the other had a metal end. Both of them are the updated part number and should have the metal end type cam sensors. Maybe someone switched them out? Anyway, the metal end was added to the sensor to help protect it from some of the he...
