2003 Nissan Pathfinder SE

Unfortunately my 97 Pathfinder is slowly dying on me. I got into an accident on the end of August; thankfully I walked away with bruises in my arms and a broken watch that was passed down to me. Surprisingly the car was drive-able after been sandwhich in a multi car collision. Made the math and it w...

Airbags passenger

Unfortunately I got into an multi car accident last week in which both air bags were deployed. I found some cheap ones that fit my model online (used) since most of the airbags are discontinues new. The adjuster came and looked into the damage and turns out that the car is a total loss. Since I cann...

Winshield replacement

Unfortunately I was involve in a chain of accident (I was #5) fortunate the car is still derivable and most important we were all able to walk away from the accident. I walked away with just minor scratches and a bit of soreness. The car sustained damage on the windshield with has two cracks due to ...

Radiator flush

I am leaning on doing a radiator flush over the weekend (if not next since its been pretty hot lately!) Which if I remember correctly the radiator does have a petcock valve to drain, I am going to put some radiator flush fluid a few days before draining. Now will this get the old coolant 100% out si...

Does it have the factory, power antennae? If so, you can purchase the replacement mast from Nissan. If the plastic track broke inside the motor, you would have to remove the power antennae motor and open it up to remove the plastic track. But, if it didn't break the plastic track inside the motor, ...

Replacing Antenna

Over the weekend my youngest sibling decided to take the car to the drive thru car wash; of course the machines ripped the antenna off the car! Now I am in the market on getting a replacement. I found one that its into the car but cannot decide which one to get if the power or manual one; I am unsur...

The bypass hose is Nissan # 14055-0W000 and thermostat is 21200-V720A. Thermostat gasket is RTV silicone; I use Permatex Ultra Grey Rigid High Torque RTV. The Bando belt part #'s are: 4350, 6PK1065 and 6PK1285 The Dayco kit you purchased is fine and comes with the front seals. The gasket that comes...

If the shop is doing the water pump or timing belt, the drive belts have to be removed, anyway, so there is no extra labor to replace the drive belts during the job. Whenever possible, I use Bando brand belts, which make many of the OEM belts for Nissan and they always fit they they are supposed to...

Belts are not a big ticket item. It wouldn't hurt to change them and be ready for the hot summer driving season coming up. They're so much easier to change in a shop than on the side of the highway. I'd be equally concerned about the radiator hoses and heater hoses, especially the 90 degree 1/2&quo...

Drive belts - 97 Pathfinder SE

I have a 97 Pathfinder in which I am taking it soon to get the timing belt/water pump changed. The car currently has 175K miles and was wonder if it would be easier for the mechanic to change the belts (a/c belt, accesories belt) while they are swapping the water pump or just save it for down the ro...

Rubbing sound when steering

So I manage to fix my rack and pinion, took the OEM to get it rebuilt and threw back in. Now I have the issue that when I am on the highway I feel the front of the car kinda tails lightly side to side. I notice twice when I make a sharp turn on low movement speed it makes a rubbing noise from the fr...

Coolant variation

Is there any advantage/disadvantage on coolant colors? I am about to my timing belt, radiator, and water pump. I am leaning on ordering Beck/Arnley Blue coolant 50/50 pre-dilluted mix coolant from Rockauto. I just heard that some cars are picky on the color since it can mess up the cooling system if...

So, I just turned the car on and saw the pump did not make any noise at all. The car is stationary and did notice a light clunking sound again (which did not made when the R&P was changed). The noise sounds like the wooden ships make when they move the wheel in the movies (light) I am not sure i...

Well, the pump will make a whirling noise if there is a leak that causes air in the system, so you may want to hold off on the pump until you replace the rack & pinion and bleed all of the air out of the system, unless you are 100% sure the pump is bad. They are usually pretty rugged and don't ...
