My EEE is the 1000, a 10 inch model. It has the solid state hard drive. I had a disk hard drive on my dell latitude, which i used for my old Maxima Carputer, but it kept having issues with being bumped around. i figured solid state was a safe bet... It doesn't have to be an EEE PC, i guess anything ...

Thanks scarelli, Yes you can setup wake on lan on the laptop , but you need it to be connected to a network to send out a magic packet to the port. You have the right idea, the suspend /hibernate idea is genius!! That makes startup relatively quick and painless. How did you wire up the laptop power...

I'm also a programmer... I've been reading through the manuals to figure out where the brains are...

what i wanted to do was reprogram the intelligent key to unlock the doors when i walk up to the car, instead of having to push the button on the door.

What are you looking to reprogram?

The stuff i use is actually called Polishing compound. And I've used it for years and hadn't had any problems... i only use it for grime and scuffs above the surface, not scratches... I think next time I'll go for the kerosene or that clay bar kit instead... ... sorry, no intention here to F anyone'...

... not sure if I'm using it right...
but, I usually just rub the scratch in tiny circles with a rag with a bit of rubbing compound on it.. then just rinse away the excess..

probably not a bad idea to wax afterwords to build up a few layers of protection...

Maybe try rubbing compound. That worked on a big scuff i had on my front bumper.

Can't tell you how many times it's saved me...
