According to this thread, it was a door latch which needed adjusting.

2002, Cruise control stopped working
The steering wheel button toggles the proper green light on the dashboard, but none of the other controls do anything. Where should I begin diagnosing this? Would this issue trigger the Check Engine light?

Ouch. When you get it fixed, let us know how much it cost. :shock: My shop replaced the fuel pump, they said the other components were fine, for around $500; I also had them test the MAF sensor and check for intake leaks. Took it on a 600 mile roadtrip the next day and it was fine. Well, the check ...

Hey folks. Just picked up a 2002 to replace my equally high miles 99 Altima. Of course the very next day the fuel pump died. LOL
