Yeah I'm guessing it's not much more work than doing the fan clutch which I've done more times that I care to count.

Awesome... gonna try & dig into it tomorrow if the weather cooperates.

Orly...... Well damn. If it's not the water pump and it's just that bracket assembly, I just may be able to pull that one off myself.

Gonna need to keep researching this one.

Anyone ever have that piece crap out on them?

Thinking it might be the infamous 2.2k rattle... it's just a valve in the intake. There was a service bullitin that was issued for it but it isn't harmful. That said, you shouldn't feel it through the pedal, though so that makes me question whether or not it's something else.... When taking the truc...

So the pulley that the fan clutch is mounted to.... that is NOT mounted to the water pump, since that's driven by the timing chain....

Is that pulley driving anything else behind it or is it purely for the cooling fan?

I do recall when I changed my fan clutch that the pulley moved a bit when the fan clutch was not holding it in place. Is it possible that the pulley shifted and has become jammed at an angle, allowing the nuts to feel snug, but still not installed at the correct angle? Not sure I am effectively com...

So what pulley is the cooling fan attached to? Cuz that's what's loose and rattling. I can grab the cooling fan & wiggle it up and down.

Just looked and I do feel a bit of play if I grab the cooling fan. Can wiggle it around a little.

You guys don't think that's from when I replaced my fan clutch a few months ago, do you?

Horrible rattle under the hood. Diagnosis? NOT water pump.

So on top of my p0430 code and bad U-joints I started hearing a horrible, horrible rattle.... At first I thought it was the driver's side cat falling apart but upon crawling under there w/ the car running I could hear that it wasn't coming from that. Sounded like top front of the motor, not bottom r...

Re: Shifting from 4hi to 2hi

I've been having more and more trouble getting my PF to come out of 4wd. It has been slow to shift back to 2hi since I bought it but nothing really problematic at first. It used to be you had to slow down a bit or coast. Then last year you pretty much had to come to a complete stop. Now this year i...

Right, right... I'm just wondering if anyone's tackled the job before and knows if it's gonna be a PITA to swap em out or not...

Me too... but at 156k miles on my truck, so long as these buy me another 2-4 years I'm fine w/ that.

Catalytic converter replacement

Has anyone here done this replacement themsleves? Is there anything more to it than just getting in there, unbolting them and scraping up some knuckles? Or does it require a lot of extra part moving to get to them? Just found these and may have to do it myself to save some cash. Hopefully they won't...
