Yeah, That's what it looked like to me as well. Maybe I'll drop by my friendly local bend over please dealer parts department and see what they have to say. The part joint I was trying to figure out how it goes together is the one where 80527 and 80579 are on the diagram. The diagram just doesn't do...

Door lock assembly replacement parts

I've had an issue where the piece of metal broke that goes from the cylinder of the door lock to the metal plate that holds the sensor and push rod. So this is the half circle piece that rotates against the spring mechanism and has the pin on it that goes through the plate on the back of the lock pl...

Thanks for the input guys. Still on the fence about this one... but that's also in part because the seller seems to be a moving target on price.

What am I in for?

I've currently got a 95 Pathfinder and love it. I'm contemplating purchasing a 2002 while I'm rebuilding my '95. I looked at one the other day that looks like maybe it got hit several years back (since the paint on the front quarter panel and door are fading differently than the rest of the car). Qu...

Engine rebuild - What else to do along the way?

I've pulled the VG30e out of my 95 and am working on the rebuild. I'm going to get some degreaser and clean things up in the engine compartment, but I'm looking for suggestions on what else I should do while I'm doing the engine rebuild. Here's what is on the list presently: - New Radiator (that's w...

Managed to get that plate out of there... It has a bit of a bump in the middle of it along with some gasket material leftovers from around the shaft. Those were offering a bit of resistance that made it seem like it couldn't pull out. Loosening the bolts to the transmission slightly and making sure ...

Thanks again smj999smj I'm almost to the point of lifting the engine out but I seem to have hit a slight snag. The bolts between the flywheel and the torque converter aren't accessible enough to get a wrench on them. The plate that covers the flywheel (thin metal sheet between the transmission and e...

Or do the transmission bolts work? And if so, did you end up using washers?

P.S. I've got the engine stand from Harbor F, which seems like it has pretty standard arms on it.

Could also be that you ended up installing to fire on the exhaust stroke instead of the compression stroke. That might explain the backfire into the intake. Make sure your TDC is after compression by taking out the #1 plug and covering the hole with your finger. Exhaust stroke shouldn't push air whi...

One last question... Anyone know off hand what size bolts I'll need for my engine stand to bolt the engine on?

Are you absolutely certain you got your spark plug wires in the right order? (had to ask) Have you tried re-doing the distributor cap alignment to TDC? If the gear on the bottom of the rotor isn't aligned to the cam shaft it might be causing a timing problem. I assume you've also checked that all yo...

Thanks for the quick replies smj. And thanks for the great advice. I've done rebuilds before but it's always this last mile of pulling the final pieces apart and trying to size up what needs to be done that gets me in the nervous zone. For instance, I was checking the cylinders by feel today and not...

It is an automatic 4WD. Since I have the cylinder heads off already, I don't think pulling the starter will be much of an issue. So it sounds like at this point the procedure for pulling the engine would be... 1. Remove starter 2. Remove engine to transmission brackets 3. Support transmission and re...

Engine rebuild - In place or Pull engine?

I'm working on a rebuild of my 95 Pathfinder engine and would like some advice from some of you that may have been there and done that. I've got the cylinder heads off and am about to dive into getting the oil pan off so that I can hone the cylinders and replace the rings. The instructions seem to i...

Thanks to both of you for the replies. After some fun with the dremel tool I finally got that nut off from there. Someone had definitely used a nut with a flange on it; making it nearly impossible to overcome the rust friction. I had to grind a ton to get the remaining piece of the flange to let go ...
