I'm at 176,000 miles with the original spark plugs and it still purrs like a kitten. Going to change them this Spring because I feel like I probably should.

On a side note, I have an entire blog dedicated to Prius drivers loitering in the fast lane!

Nice! What brand is that? Looks like it might be what I need.

Sorry, forgot to mention it's the front springs with the strut.

I'm thinking about buying a hydraulic strut floor compressor from Amazon for $130. Cheaper than the hour of labor my local garage wants to compress it.

Spring Compressor

Hey guys –

Anyone have a spring compressor they recommend for the Pathfinder springs? I can't find one with clamps that fit between the coils (they're pretty tight).

Yeah, that's the procedure I'm using. For a no-code it says to check the fuse and then connect to a Consult-III. Wasn't sure if there was something I was missing.

Our local dealership isn't known for their trustworthiness so I was hoping to go in informed.

Thank you for the help.

Diagnosing Airbag Light

Has anyone ever diagnosed their airbag light with the key on/off thing? My airbag light started flashing so I put it into diagnostic mode and, according to the interweb, it's supposed to blink for three seconds and then blink a code. Mine is just doing the three second blink (diagnostic mode indicat...

I was in a similar situation as you so I thought I'd throw my opinion in. Traded in a Jetta Wagon for a used '08 V8 Pathfinder with 50K miles a few years back. I drive about 25K miles a year in the Baltimore/DC area and drive the Pathfinder on the beach (OBX) in the summer. All in all, I think it's ...

I think you've got a new cinch motor/latch mechanism in your future. I replaced mine a couple of years back and it's an easy swap. It's a pretty common break item.

Aftershake (the unsteadiness when you cross a bridge joint on the highway--especially while turning) and tramlining are both inherent characteristics of a body-on-frame truck. Sometimes certain tires and suspension modifications can help/hurt but it's usually something you kind of get used to.

I went through this a while back when I was trying to attach a camera platform to the front of my Pathfinder. Somewhere I found the thread size and pitch (M12, 1.25) but there was a reason I ended up just ordering some from the dealership. Might have been a cost issue.

Of course the challenge these days is finding a shop that wants to do suspension work and is qualified enough to tell if something is wrong. In Maryland, anyway. I usually get an answer like, "My tech gazed in the general direction of your car from across the parking lot and noted that your sho...

I bought mine from Carmax and wouldn't ever buy a car anywhere else. You'll pay top market value (and they don't negotiate) but the truck will be as perfect as possible. When I bought mine, they gave me 90 days to make a list of everything that needed fixing. On day 89, I gave them a list of 25 thin...

Though the brakes are generally weak, the parking brake should hold the truck on a reasonable incline. You're probably due for a new set of parking brake pads.

When my parking brake stopped holding, I replaced rear rotors and PB pads and now it holds on a hill with the car in Drive.
