I generally run 5W-30 but read some good used oil analysis results on BITOG of 0W-40 in the VQ40 so I thought I'd give it a shot. Never again.

The extra capacity might be nice since it seems like you tow (often?) with it. You're already going to have it off so it makes sense to me.

Strange update. I was doing my rear brakes today and apparently it starts smoother after having the rearend elevated? Could it maybe be a pickup tube problem?

Finally got it all buttoned back up. Changed the water pump, thermostat, valve cover gasket and belt tensioner while I had it all apart. What a huge difference! I've used Walker parts but never a muffler.

That makes me feel a lot better. That's what I ended up doing. I figured a link was too bad and all the timing markings were lining up. I rotated it several times by hand and didnt hear or feel anything weird. Also the cams and crank were still lining up so I figured I was safe.

Is the wheel opening even 36"? I would think you would 4" or more of lift to fit that size tire and still be able to turn.

A wheel in the air with an LSD makes the LSD just about pointless. You can trick it a little with some left foot braking but for real traction you would need a locker.
