Took to dealer for a diagnostic and they said it is the bank 2 solenoid causing the error. They wanted $628 to replace it. I am going to buy the hitachi version from rock auto. Will post results.

It was the sunroof drain tube. Used a straightened coat hanger to push through some gunk and that seems to have solved the problem. Water was backing up when the car was parked facing down hill. It would then spill over the sunroof to inside the car between the roof and the headliner and draining ov...

only 115k? I would say its worth it. I have a 2001 3.5l LE model with 215k and it runs fine (although) I am battling a check engine light problem. I have replaced lots of stuff on mine, but they were all cheaper than a payment: alternator, compressor, starter, radiator, shocks, struts, rack and pini...

Well... on the advice of someone else who said they had the same problem and had owned 3 pathy's I replaced all 3 sensors. Guess what? Same problem.

It's starting to look like I am going to have to take it to the dealer and have wasted money on sensors. Mildly frustrating.

So I a tested the new camshaft sensor. It works. Then pulled and tested the old one. It works. I am not sure why i got the incorrect readings the first time. Maybe I was confused. So I tested the Crankshaft POS, Crankshaft REF, Camshaft Phase, IVTC sensors....they are all good as far as I can tell. ...

metal shavings on crankshaft sensor

How worried should I be when I pull the 2nd crankshaft sensor at the bell housing to test the sensor and notice the magnet at the end has quite a bit of small metal filings/shavings stuck to it. Like the transmission might be eating away at itself.

Or is that normal for a 3.5L with 215k miles?

Pulled and tested resistance on the Camshaft sensor today and there was none. Had a lot of oil on the harness for some reason. Cleaned it up real good and now am going to try and find a new one. This one was Mitsubishi.

SMJ _ thanks for the reply. I think I know part of my problem. Using my Haynes manual and looking up the original code I was stuck on Variable Valve part of this problem and looked that in the Haynes index and followed the procedures for checking and replacing the VVT Intake sensor at bank 2 (driver...

For those reading along and trying to solve their own issues... P1140 and P1145 are the codes for the actual sensor P1110 and P1135 are the codes for the system P1111 and P1136 are the codes for the solenoid. So this morning I swapped the sensors, cleared the codes and the codes are back. This time ...

So I tackled the P1135 first and changed the Variable valve positiong/ camshaft positioning sensor for bank 2 (drivers side). Oreilly wouldn't clear my codes so I ordered myself a bluetooth code reader to pair with a spare android phone i have and got it yesterday and cleared the codes. I read them ...

it does have a sunroof. I will have to find this sunroof tube and check it out. I don't have a lot of rot on my car. She has been garage kept at night and weekend days for the last 17 years of her life. I never noticed any leaks and I would have it partked outside at work during the day. It was park...

So you guys buy into the Seafoam thing? I have been skeptical of it.

What's a VVT body?

I religiously change the oil in the rig every 5000 miles. Same factory oil. No synthetic or anything.

water in drivers side

Does anyone know if there is a common culprit for water getting into the drivers floorboard? I am pretty sure it is coming from rain. AC is clearly draining to the outside and I think that would drip into passenger side if it was blocked. We found a LOT of water in the drivers floor board mostly on ...

Changed direction. First the other sensor would throw code P1140 according to my Haynes manual not the 1145. Haynes calls this the Variable Valve control Sensor. And hopefully Bank 2 is the driver side because thats the one I was working on. Rockauto calls this the camshaft position sensor. Their di...
