Electronic temperature sensor fault

Postby prossouw » Thu Aug 11, 2011 4:06 am

I would like to find out if anyone has experienced a faulty temperature sensor. My vehicle indicates outside temperature of -12 degrees Celsius whilst it is about 20 degrees Celsius outside.

My dealership seems incompetent to deal with this issue. At the last service, I asked that they have a look at this. Firstly, they claimed nothing is wrong with the temperature readings. Then after taking the workshop manager to the vehicle and pointing the problem out to him, he said nothing can be done to fix it.

The mechanic told me that the sensor needs to be cleaned with alcohol, but they do not do it.

Can anyone here tell me if the sensor can be removed and cleaned, or should it be replaced?
