Brake Fluid change

Postby cesar33 » Tue Mar 13, 2012 9:21 pm

I gravity drained 16 oz from the passenger front and rear brakes. Took over 2 hours. Takes about 15 minute for the brake reservoir to drop from MAX to MIN, don't let it get too low. You don't want to get air into your system. I used a 2 foot hose 5/16 hose, gallon milk jug, adjustable wrench, rags and plenty of patience. I took the back wheel off, but probably didn't need to. I wanted to change my fuel filter while I waited for the slow drain. For the front brakes, I just turned the wheel. I'll probably do the drivers side into a clean container just to see how much cleaner the fluid looks. Fluid was very dark and dirty after 125,000 miles.
