Doing the BIG 3 Upgrade on 2007 Pathfinder

Postby krush » Thu Sep 20, 2012 11:20 am

Hi all, newbie here and want to start of by saying THANK YOU to all. I have learned and used a lot of info from this site.

I'm starting to do the big 3 upgrade and active tuning ground upgrade. I have read a lot of positive reviews over the net about it. So I may as well give it a try.

I have just order my KnuKonceptz Kolossus Flex Kable 0 Gauge and crimps
I have all ready received my XS power bus bars and KnuKonceptz pos and neg terminals.

I will post pic in detail later.

hum, i might give that grounding wire upgrade deal a try.

their logic seems plausible, but i'm not going to expect much. $50 with free shipping, so why not.

here's a link for those interested

Always good to have proper grounding, but I'm not that convinced that adding four ground straps is going to make my Pathfinder run better and get several more horsepower! I know there have been some ground issues with the R51 Pathfinders and most of the other mid-90's models resulting in a CAN COMM U1001 code and a TSB was released instructing to clean various grounds in the engine compartment and under the dash. Is this kit really beneficial or just overkill? I also saw the following note:

"This wire shouldnt be used when the vehicle has a current-measuring device on the negative battery cable between the battery and the chassis attachment point (We've only seen this in 07's)"

Is this referring to the voltage regulator that's integral of the negative battery cable? If it is, I have it on my 2006 LE and 2008 SE, so it's not limited to the 2007 models. I'd love to hear the results of anyone that does this, however.

hey doctahjones, if you have the time and tools..... you would be way better off making the wire yourself. It will cost me about have that and the wire are of the best quality for the money. keep an eye on the link, i should have the info up in a week if you can wait for the upgrade. Or even better just have a good local Car Audio shop make the wire for you to length, but tell them to solider the joint and not crimp them.

I have done the grounding kit upgrade on my Mitsu Eclipse. I wonder if there's one for the Pathfinder.

A quick search on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-PERFO ... ceRpt=true

But I wouldn't know which points I should be grounding  For my Eclipse, someone made a nice How-To and I just followed it.

Looks like that Ebay kit is a much better deal at $21 (compared to $50) and they give you 5 cables (versus 4 cables)! :o

Nope! Still can't open that link. Weird. I used FireFox, IE, and Chrome.

I just Goggled "active tuning pathfinder installation" and the first link got me to it  It's the same exact address too.

So, has anyone actually done this here and can provide a synopsis of the difference experienced?
