dash lighting dimming ability

Postby Col R » Mon Feb 27, 2012 10:21 pm

My dash is very bright but the center console including the environmental controls and the Bose radio head are all much dimmer than the dash.

they both respond to the dimmer switch but the brightness levels are very different with the dash being much brighter!

Can I equalize this lighting?

Rick

Nope, they are all controlled by the one dimmer. I was looking for the same thing when I bought mine.

Thanks for the response.

Did you confirm that this is the normal mode of operation; that is, the center is dimmer than the dash?

This makes no sense to me at all. Like headlights in my eyes from the dash just to be able to read the radio dial.

Yes, the console is dimmer than the dash, but it never bothered me. I normally turn down the dash brightness a few clicks anyway since I feel like flying a plane with dim guages :|

Where is this dimmer switch you speak of?

It is in the cluster beside the odometer. You use it to change modes and twist to dim or brighten.

it's the button you push to zero the tripmeter
just turn it right to left to dim or brighten the dash panel lighting :)

You see, mine must be broken. I saw the little logo there and twisted it both directions and nothing happened.

Center Stack Radio/Heat Display

Postby booradley » Fri Jan 18, 2013 1:16 pm

The temps were in the low 20's today and I noticed I could hardly see the radio and temp display. I tried both, Auto and Manual-Night/Day and at the highest setting in sunlight it seemed dimmer than before? Later on when the cabin heated up the display seemed brighter. Could the cold have that much of an impact?
Vehicle only has 3.000 miles on a 2012. Anyone out there have or had similar problems. Speedo and Tach are fine, just the center display. Radio and Heat work fine.
Thanks in advance.
