Service Engine Light

Postby FreQ » Wed Feb 27, 2013 9:11 pm

Dealer says that our CEL is for some kind of fuel sensor.. but I put gas in it today and the gauge works and the DTE registered that there were 160 miles to empty.. Im confused.. I dont have the official code yet.. I may take it to have the code pulled myself and see whats up.. regardless they have to fix whatever is causing the CEL because it wont pass emissions with the light on.

Pardon me if this is in the wrong section I figured electrical was a good place to start

year? mileage?
there have been issues with some fuel level sending units
there is an extended warranty for some trucks, and i think there may be a related recall campaign on others

When my fuel level sensor went bad I did not have a check engine light or any error codes. Other than the fuel gauge, everything still worked correctly.

There was a service bulletin, Nissan NTB07-069c, that address the issues of stored codes P0461, P0462 or P0463 on 05-08 Pathfinders, Xterras and Frontiers (except those 2006 models addressed under a recall). Codes are for the fuel level sensor and may or may not exhibit issues with the fuel gauge. Fix is to replace the fuel level sensor.

Fuel level sending unit: 25060-ZZ00A
Packing: 17342-EA000
