Anyone ever installed an remote starter on R51?

Postby Clay350 » Tue Dec 25, 2012 1:50 pm

Hey guys,

Just got an avital 4103 remote starter for christmas. I am very technically inclined but have practically zero instructions to install this thing. Anyone ever do it or know of a good guide to use? Is it as straightforward as I think? It looks like I have to get a bypass for the transponder.

When it comes to this kind of stuff, I rely on the experts (I have a good friend who does all sorts of 12v installs).

If I recall, you need a bypass for the factory immobilizer before you can get stuff going properly...

he's always pointed me to the website www.the12volt.com I've never visited, but I'd give it a try...

Did you put a Remote start in yet or not. I did one in my 08 Pathfinder.

I used a Fortin bypass via the data cable connected to a Compustar remote start module. No problems at all. Of course, I was a professional installer years ago during my College years. I was still installing Car phones in cars back then.

My brother in law and his partner installed an auto starter in their Pathfinder and said it was easy. They're extremely girly, so let's just say that if they did it, anyone can do it.
