YouTube vid shows actual radiator cooler leak

Postby smj999smj » Thu Jun 06, 2013 12:39 pm

I thought this was interesting! A trans shop has posted a pic of the integral trans fluid cooler that was taken out of the bottom radiator tank. The vid shows what exactly is leaking that is causing so many Pathfinder/Xterra/Frontier owners headaches:

Nice find. As we saw in that video, it's not a huge leak, but just enough under pressure that the cross contamination happens and destroys the transmission.

Yeah, I was thinking about cutting apart my old radiator to get an idea of where it might be cracking/leaking. This vid saves me the trouble!

It looks like it could almost be repaired, if its that close to the port...

I can't see one being able to repair it without removing the tank, which would be a real pain. By the time you got done, it would probably be better off just replacing the radiator.

Nice find indeed. Now I truly understand what the problem is and will be able to explain it better, to other owners.
