Purchasing a 2014 SL

Postby rhino_160 » Sun Sep 28, 2014 5:06 pm

I am in the market for a new 2014 SL 2 wheel drive. The wife and I picked it up yesterday to test drive, agreed on a price, and were gonna sign the papers after lunch for the purchase until I started reading about the transmission issues with the pathfinders. Is this a rarity or something all pathfinders have? Is this a concern I should have even with a warranty? I am getting it for $33k out the door so I don't wanna pass up the deal. Thanks in advance

The transmission issues are not for the R52 Pathfinders, but for the 2005-2010 R51 Pathfinders. Those issues aren't really due to bad transmissions, but a large number of radiators that are having issues with their transmission cooler tube, located in the bottom tank of the radiator, leaking and allowing engine coolant to get into the ATF, which ruins the transmission. The R52's aren't known for this issues and also have a CVT transmissions, which is an entirely different transmission than the R51's 5-spd. A/T.
