Postby martyf250 » Wed Oct 01, 2014 9:19 am

Anyone know if there is a TPMS on the spare tire on a 2005 pathfinder?

i broke the valve stem on and instead of buying a new one through nissan they can use the one on the spare

Do I need to put a new one on or can i have the tire shot put a regular valve on it or will it set off the TMPS light?

If you replace a TPMS sensor with a regular stem, it will not get a reading from that tire, thus cause the TPMS warning light to stay on. Nissan uses Schrader brand TPMS sensors, which are one-piece design and do not have a replaceable valve stem. Personally, I use nothing but Dorman direct-fit TPMS sensors which I get from Rockauto.com. They are half the price of genuine Nissan TPMS sensors, have a replaceable valve stem and a lifetime warranty. They will need to be programmed with a trigger tool and capable scan tool after installation. If the other 3 TPMS sensors are original, I would recommend replacing all four, as the batteries tend to last about 6-7 years in the sensors and the batteries are not serviceable.
