Cool, thanks again deezx5! Will try it no matter after I install the aFe filter and air box mod - that way it hopefully adjusts for max MPG - hoping to at least get 30MPG!! OK, I'd be very happy with 16 for mostly city driving.
Good point. I bought it with some "Nexen Roadian HT" tires. Never heard of them, but reviews seem positive. And will check pressures, but no "low pressure" indicated by the TPMS. They're @ 50% to being replaced, so will look for best All Seasons down the road. http://www.nexentireusa.com/tires-14/RoadianHTSUV
normally I'm sitting at about 13 MPG with my neighbor commute to work (like 2 mile drive) on the highway crusing at about 80 Im at 18-19 65 about 20-21. I have reset my MPG while crusing at about 40-45 and have seen it fluctuate at around 30-32MPG!! If only I could always go that fast. I guess the airbox treatment could help out a little and maybe a reset.
Thanks for the input valenburg. Guess I just need to do a Hwy test - just take a ride and see what happens. If I can do those kinds of MPG on Hwy, I'd be thrilled and just deal with the low MPG on the street.
Another thing I wondered on my drive to lunch today...I leave my temp/console on "AUTO" - which means the AC or heat or whatever may turn on at any time. Wonder if that can kill the MPG more than manually controlling the temp. I know just the AC itself will.
It shouldn't matter much which mode you're in if you need to stay cool. Leaving it in auto other times of the year though may not be efficient. A/C use in the city will cut your mpg easily by 20%. You can hook up a scanguage and get a reading on gallons/hour and switching the A/C on increases this by almost 30% just at idle. When they run the EPA tests they don't run the A/C and they don't sit much in city traffic either.
ok, this is strange. I had my 2006 PF in for some body work and when I got it back my fuel mileage was roughly 25% better and the fuel distance numbers on the dash went from roughly 400km to 660km (Canada). Then I brought it in for some front end work a few months later and it went back to 400km per tank and the fuel mileage dropped as well. Why? and how do I get my 660 per tank bank?
