paint issues

Postby ottawan » Wed Apr 15, 2015 1:35 pm

Hi

First time poster.

My pathfinder is now 6 months old. Gave it a solid spring cleaning earlier this week and was shocked with how many scratches it has. Tons. I have a Ford in the driveway beside it that is 4 years old without nowhere near as many and I sold an Enclave just prior to buying the Pathfinder and after 5 years of the Enclave it had nowhere near the scratches. SO I don't think it is a usage issue.

Colour is red if that matters.

Anyone else having paint issues?

No experience here, though I can say that red, just like black, is PITA to maintain since swirl marks and even the fine scratches will be too obvious.

some colors & paints you have to rinse the heck out of before washing
otherwise, you will grind any dust or dirt right into the paint
dust particles, though small, can be very hard & abrasive
i like to pressure wash my trucks before washing, and use microfiber cloths with warm water and car wash soap to clean them
even terrycloth can mar a finish
chamois or equivalent to dry
