What do you hate most?

Postby Kestral » Mon Sep 28, 2015 6:03 pm

What do you hate or dislike the most about your R51 Pathfinder?

For me it's not hate but more dislike .. I dislike the way my V6 idles it vibrates through the steering this seems to be a common complaint. And for the size truck it is the ride is not that great.

The idle issue would've been my complaint, however, I just posted about using a Bully Dog 40417 to raise the idle rpm by 125. Even with a/c blasting, it will not drop to where it vibrates. A new found love.

So, ask around and see if someone has a BD to let you adjust the idle, it's what I did.

Mine vibrates through the floor noticeably during driving when the RPM's are just under 1500. It makes me turn off the radio to see if I hear the engine pinging.

Coming from a Honda, I'm also not at all impressed with the sheer number of squeaks, rattles and suspension noise when cruising around town. It's just not nearly as refined.

Oh, and the head room is just awful.

Yes! ..Yes! .. You are so right on that one and Nissan never fixed them all the way through production! Heck it's like shinning a $2.00 flashlight!

Soft rear suspension.

Besides that 7 years into ownership and still very happy with out '06 Pathfinder.

20mpg on the freeway, drives nice and looks good.

Only complaint is the MPG city driving.

Wasting 1/2 a day at the dealer when it was finally delivered.
Fuel economy of a battleship.
Biggest gripe for me is that I don't have zero miles on the odometer and that the R51 is no longer sold in this country.

The engine vibration when idling, especially when those damn bands rusted off on the heat shields.....the heat shields, fuel mileage.

The fact that even though I bought a base model, Ford sells base models with and AUX jack and some little extras but I would have to pay thousands more.

But its a great truck and I'm gonna probably keep it till it dies.

It took me a while to love mine (and its quirks) but we're like best buds now. The two things that, to this day, still annoy me are:

1. Sensitivity of the panic button on the key fob. It's midnight and I'm getting home from work late. I bend over to untie my shoes with the keys in my pocket and the alarm starts screaming in the driveway. Happens every time.

2. The weight of the rear tailgate (on the '08+). I usually softly lay it down until the cinch motor takes over and latches it. However, whenever someone "new" (or my wife) closes it (as you would a normal tailgate), it feels like you've just been rear ended by a dump truck.

Happens to me too once in a while, until I got a cover for the key fob. I saw it at my dealer while waiting for an oil change. I got an orange one so it'll be easier to spot when I'm looking for it. You can get it on eBay as well. The cover makes the buttons a little more recessed so it's not accidentally pressed easily.

I bought a handful of those for the Pathfinder and Xterra fobs. I can say that they might help, but they still won't prevent accidental button pushing. First thing I do when I get to the office in the morning is set my key over on one of my desks. I've set off the alarm numerous times, but the first and only time I woke up to find my windows open was when I gave up & kept the fob out of my pockets. Stupid design. A hinged cover for these things is essential.

Yes, forgot about the windows rolling down! First few times that happened I thought someone was messing with me.

The cover is a great idea. Going to give it a try.
