Bad ground on O2 sensor harness

Postby MEGA_MAX » Thu Oct 15, 2015 5:31 pm

Hello everyone! New here, and trying to help out a friend with her '95 pathfinder. She's getting it smogged soon and was suspecting that her o2 sensor was bad. I followed these instructions and confirmed that the heater was still good (multimeter read about 5 ohms) and the positive connection (black/white wire) on the harness side was supplying 12 volts. The ground wire (black/yellow) however did not appear to be grounded.

My question is if there's an obvious place that the connection could become ungrounded or if it's going to require digging into the wiring harness? Also, if I was to splice into the wire and provide it a temporary ground, would that be a good experiment to see if the check engine light goes away? Thanks!

Side note: her windshield washer fluid pump stopped working as well, I can't imagine these two events are connected but I figured I'd mention it anyways. [/url]
