Endless Cranking hoping to pick a few minds

Postby DadyDedZbra » Sun Apr 10, 2016 7:08 pm

Hi this is my first post and I would like to first say thank you for even reading this and trying to help. You don't have to and the fact that you do just to help a stranger is a great thing so genuinely thank you.

So here is the issue i've been having in my 1995 4wd automatic. I was stuck in limp home mode for some time and after several days of trying to figure it out and changing the fuel pump fuel filter maf air filter spark plugs and wires, it just has no decided not to start at all. It will crank endlessly and never ignite, there is also a very apparent smell of gas while it is cranking.

Ive tried everything I can think at this point my thoughts are camshaft pos sensor, or the ECM because I was stuck in limp with no codes and now endless crank again with no codes.

Im more or less stumped so any suggestions or ideas would be amazing thank you.

Looks like ignition system if no codes it could be distributer/coils

Yes, distributors fail a lot on VG engines as they get older. Double check to confirm there is no spark and that the distributor rotor turns when you crank the engine (if it doesn't, check for a broken timing belt).
