Back door (liftgate) won't stay closed

2008 SE.

For a week or so the back door won't secure in the closed position. When I close it, the cinch motor draws in then releases allowing the door to be pulled open. It literally cycles closed then open immediately. The release button does cycle it as well. With the lift gate open, I can close the latch with a screwdriver and it cinched but doesn't lock in place, the same as with actual closing. I don't get any door ajar notifications either from lights or dash screen. Nothing changes when the doors are locked or unlocked.

I've sprayed it all down with penetrating oil, checked striker spacing already.

I think you've got a new cinch motor/latch mechanism in your future. I replaced mine a couple of years back and it's an easy swap. It's a pretty common break item.
