Rear Suspension Feedback

Hi all,

I would like some feedback.

I will be redoing my rear suspension. I currently have medium rear springs with Bilsteins HD shocks and airlift 1000 bags. While the bags have helped I still have sagging when loaded and towing a trailer (#3500).

My upgrade would be OME HD Springs and Radflo 2.0 with remote reservoir.

My main concern is ……… wait for it……… you guessed it, rear alignment particularly when not loaded.

I will be adding a Wilco rear hitch tire carrier (if alignment can get close). I can’t seem to find any rear bolts that allow for extra alignment issues for my 2008 Pathfinder.

I switched from the med/heavy duty 4x4parts springs to OME HD about 6 months ago. They ended up sagging over 2"!! While they're still a bit stiffer than the 4x4parts springs, I'm going to have to put my spacers back in there.

Now that's not totally a bad thing as it should make them a bit stiller still.
And I need a little extra since I have that custom steel rear bumper/tire carrier.
That's an extra 200+ lbs on the rear tailgate for me.

So you'll probably not see a 2" drop, but they will drop some on you, so be prepared.

I will adding two ARB roller draws and the Wilco rear hitch tire carrier (not to mention my usual load when overlanding). I hope the OME HD Springs will compensate for that extra load/weight.

I do expect some sagging after settling. I just hope it's not too much.

Did you have much problems with the rear alignment?

I'll will be purchasing SPF3975K, SPF3977K bushing kit from (they are actually based out in Australia)

Post some pics when you get the drawers installed...very cool!
And of the rest of the mods too!

I'm just not as impressed as I thought I would be with the OME HD springs.
Maybe you'll have better luck. It took a good 6 months for them to sag too, even with 20+ lbs in the rear air bags the whole time! :shock:

Oh well, a spacer fixes it and that's easy to install.
Just typical IFS/RFS suspension BS we have to deal with!!

Interesting point you made about OME. Ironically I have the 4x4parts rear spring and I'm not that impressed. Compared to the standard suspension it is however like chalk and cheese.

Everything I have read about the OME HD spring pushes the IRS to 2.5-3.0 inches which I believe is the max for our suspension. Oh well, I'll soon enough find out ;)

It is a shame the R51's didn't have a solid rear axle.

I thought we should keep away from spacers if we have a suspension lift?

Are the AC (4x4Parts) rear springs that bad? I'm looking at the same setup, but I'd rather do it once. Does the OME have a stiffer spring rate?

I had the 4x4Parts HD Springs on my truck for years and they worked fine, just wore out.
You can adjust your height with spacers if they sag a bit, no issues at all.
(Just cut one of the rubberized/poly ones to the size you need)
(If you need 1" cut a 2" spacer in half..)

Remember, I have a custom steel bumper and a 35" tire hanging off the back of my truck now. So my results are not typical for a stock pathy. Aussie370 was saying he was going to add a steel bumper, tire combo and drawers back there, so he may see similar results as me.

I haven't had a problem with the above setup. The front has been great. It is only the rear, BUT that is with everything loaded for overlanding there was noticeable sagging but the airbags helped compensate.

Now with adding 2 ARB drawers and a rear hitch tire carrier I'm adding close to another 200#. With this added weight is why I'm getting OME HD Springs and upgraded shocks.

I do expect some sagging but I am hoping that it is not significant.

Great. I'm also carrying a bit more weight than stock as well. I have my RTT + Hitchgate Solo tire carrier. I just put in some Airlift 1000's to level everything out. I just don't want to undersize the spring rate for the lift. I want to use the air bags to fine tune based on extra load (gear, people, etc...)

Im running Armada HD springs from Autozone but i did sag.
Then i did my drop bracket lift(4") and added a rear tube bumper with dual swing outs gas and tire. Probably sagged 1"

Keep your eyes out for Nisstec to come out with their rear small drop bracket lift.

My rear springs were .8 of an Inch thick but not much taller just more coils.

I haven't used or needed my rear Airlifts ever since.
