Help: rear spring and sway bar rates from 2007 to 2011?

Postby jz39 » Thu Mar 23, 2017 4:28 am

I have a 2011 LE and previously had a 2007 LE. The 2007 had noticeably better handling--much less sway and felt firmer springed--tires being the same.

I just ordered the Bilstein HDs but was thinking to swap out to 2007 spring and sway components if they were indeed different.

From my research, it looks like Nissan changed the rear springs and sways but kept the fronts the same.

Does anyone know for sure if they softened the rear springs and sways from 2007-2010? I can still get the 07 springs and found an 07 swaybar online, but can't figure out the rates anywhere. It appears that the 2007 swaybar was superseded by the 2011 model and unavailable as a new part.

Appreciate any help on this item.

I would start with the shocks and go from there. Nissan did make dozens of springs but difference was se offroad 4x4 and towing package. Unless the springs were replaced already they could be worn out.

Yes, I am def. doing the shocks, but was wondering if at the same time I could improve the rest of the suspension. The soft 2011 suspension was even when the truck was new--even my wife noticed that it handled less well than the 2007, so you know there was a difference!

When I look up 2007 and 2011 online in the parts catalogs, there is one rear spring number for 2007 and one for 2011--same for the rear sways for the LE. My guess is they softened the 2011 rear, but don't have any factual evidence of that. I could spend the $300 to get the 2007 model rear springs and sway, but I'm not sure that will make any difference.

Hmmm.

My .02 i would get new shocks and install airlift 1000 airbags run them maybe at 15-20 psi and then go from there.

My airlifts act like a sway bar for me since i do not run them after lifting it.

I think I am going to go with the Moog springs and the Bilstein HDs. I'll see how that is and then decide on trying out the 07 sway bar.

I found that the rear sway on the 2011 is 25.4 mm but cannot find the diameter of the 07 anywhere! I've asked the guy selling an 07 bar online to measure the diameter for me...we'll see if I get lucky and he can tell a difference +\- 25.4mm!
