4wd troubles

Postby tj3006 » Mon Apr 10, 2017 6:23 am

Hey all ! 1st time on the forum,
So Saturday night some jerk rand a stop sign and totaled my 97 pathfinder.
But Sunday i bought a better one. or so i thought. Its a 97 pathfinder 4wd.
It runs and drives great in 2 wd and when i put it in 4wd , its fine going strait but turning in either direction creates a knocking sound on both front hubs, Take it out of 4X4 and the knock goes away.
any ideas ? thanks ...tj3006

That's normal in 4WD. Diffs are locked, wheels aren't turning at the same speed.
I got confused about this as well because I was used to an AWD system. Not the same as 4WD.

Only use 4WD then you're afraid of getting stuck, of if you're actually driving on very slippery surfaces. Ice, snow, massive rainstorms, etc.
