Misfire Cyclinder 1 all of a sudden gone.

Postby shanti.vt1 » Sun Apr 30, 2017 11:16 am

Hello,

Few weeks ago my 2005 pathfinder was running rough. found out the error code the my ignition coil on cylinder 1 may have gone bad. So i ordered one and did not drive my path finder for a few weeks.

When I turned it on, the car was running smooth. I cleared the engine code. Should I still replace the coil ? kind of wiered or is there something else I should be checking.

If it were me and I already had the coil, I would replace it. You can replace it without removing the intake plenum. You just have to disassemble the coil to get it through the hole in the plenum and then reassemble it after you get the unassembled parts through the hole. It's awkward and requires a little patience, but it can be done. Just be careful not to lose the spring that fits between the boot and the coil transistor.
