2002 Pathfinder. Need a power steering pressure hose

Postby CB » Thu May 04, 2017 7:06 am

I have a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder LE with 260,000 miles and have a leak, my mechanic said it's the metal part of the power steering pressure hose (rusted), went to Nissan and they want $370 dollars for the part so as you can imagine I'm looking for a way to purchase the part for less money and soon because my mechanic said I should not be driving my truck. I was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation of where I could buy this part online, from a reputable part source. I've been calling junkyards in the area and so far no one has the part. Thanks! 🚙

I see two options. Go to NissanPartsDepot.com or CourtesyParts.com and you can get the genuine Nissan part for around $265+shipping. Or, you can have them remove the oil part and have a place that makes hydraulic hose made a new one or cut out and replace the rubber hose section and apply new crimps. Some auto parts places like NAPA can do this.

Thank you for your response! Auto Zone has the part for $171.00. I'm going to a U PULL IT tomorrow to see if there are any 02 Pathfinders in the yard with that part. If there is my mechanic said he will meet me there with his tools and remove part (he lets me help him so I've learned a lot so far). I called a local NAPA and they cannot help. It appears I am looking for a needle in a haystack. An expensive needle, although the U PULL IT guy said if I found one it would probably be $10.00!!

It's hard to argue with $10! Power steering seapage or leaks at the high pressure hose crimps is pretty common.

I'm learning as I go with mechanic so this may seem ignorant, if so then can't they just sell the #%+* crimps!! There's nothing wrong with the hose. Although that would have been better because a guy at Advanced Auto Parts told me he fixed his PS leak by adding sealant to PS fluid. Took him two times but leak gone. I am excited to go to a yard that has 1,000 vehicles on it tomorrow. Who knew. 😁

The crimps wouldn't do you any good unless you had the equipment to install them. A place that makes hydraulic hoses can replace them but it wouldn't make any sense to install them and not replace the hose section. Keep in mind that power steering pressure hoses can see pressures well over 500 PSI,
