Sway bar bushings

Postby the ocho » Sat Dec 09, 2017 8:02 am

I'm guessing it's pretty common to have to replace the sway bar (anti-roll) bar bushings. Looks like mine are split in the center and I'm hearing what I would normally describe as CV joint noises but it's only when the suspension compresses. (I've seen the updated design with the split in the corner)

Has anyone who had sway bar bushing fail describe the noise as a slight metal on metal knocking?

If that's the sound you're hearing, then damn. I hear that sounds too and thought it might have been the bushings. I'll have to go out and check tomorrow. I have 93k on mine and never replaced them. Any one have any ideas?

There was a TSB for knocking noise caused by the failure of the front sway bar mount bushings as you described. The update bushings with the relocated split corrected the issue. Get them from Nissan; they are inexpensive.
