2000 Pathfinder - rear doors will no longer open

Postby eolafan » Sun Apr 01, 2018 7:08 am

My 2000 Pathfinder experienced a problem with one of the rear doors about a year ago and the rear passenger side door will no longer open from inside or out and yesterday the same thing began on the rear driver side door. The electric locks seem to be working just fine...any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks. :D

It sounds like the latches are broken.

UPDATE: Yesterday, at the suggestion of some of my fellow Pathfinder owners, I tried injecting some WD40 oil into the door latch through the openings on the back of the "handle" and, after waiting about an hour for the oil to penetrate, began to "manipulate" the handles and IT WORKED AND THE HANDLES FREED UP AND THE DOORS NOW ARE OPENING AND CLOSING WITHOUT A PROBLEM. I plan on using WD40 a few times a year to keep things from "freezing" in the future. My 2000 Pathfinder only has 65,000 miles on the clock and I plan on keeping it for the foreseeable future. Thanks to all for your help. :D
