Replacing A/C pressure switch

Postby labsy » Sun May 06, 2018 1:42 pm

Hi,

few days ago I was installing LED DRL lights and had to remove battery. When reinstalling I slipped, battery felt down into its seat sideways and somehow broke A/C refrigerant pressure switch, which is located on right side od A/C condenser, few inches from battery, just below A/C intake line.

Do I need to empty A/C system for replacement procedure?

There should be a shrader valve under the switch, so just unscrew the old one and screw on the new one.

Hi smj,

just to be on safe side, I also asked my mechanic and he said, just like you, that I can simply unscrew old A/C pressure switch and put back new in, no problems with A/C gas pressure. He said it has shrader valve inside.

BUT unfortunately in my case that WAS NOT TRUE. :(
As I unscrewed old valve, I screwed all 850g of A/C gas into atmosphere, or better say into engine bay and some onto my fingers. Obviously those European models are a bit different.
Luckily noone got hurt, A/C gas replaced, no permanent damage.

Sorry to hear about that. Not exactly the best design idea on Nissan's part.

damn, wish I had seen this sooner. I can confirm, there is no Schrader valve under this switch. My Rogue had the same issue.
