Front Drive shaft Removed, switch in 2wd or 4wd?

Postby swift1 » Tue May 22, 2018 11:39 am

I removed my front drive shaft on my 2006 PF due to vibration issues and have been driving around with the switch in 2wd. I was looking at some other forums regarding Titans and one guy said that there is an oil pump/motor? in the transfer case and that if you plan on driving without the front drive shaft that you should put the switch in 4wd so that the pump/motor? in the transfer case is functional.

Is this true ?

Indeed there's sub-oil pump some half-way down between rear and front final drive axles. Main oil pump seems to be driven by main shaft, but for sub oil pumpI am not sure. By construction it looks like being driven by actuator motor, so it could be just to switch drive modes.

I had same problems and was driving some month or two without front driveshaft, and nothing was wrong.
