Alarm goes off randomly

Postby Wes » Thu Nov 16, 2017 2:55 pm

Well I thought this was fixed, but my alarm keeps going off for no reason that I can discern. I thought it had to do with a problem I was having with the drivers side door window working due to an issue with the harness inside the door.
(maybe it does?) Happens at work about twice a week. No specific time or weather condition seems to initiate it. Check the parking lot, no one around it.

This is a the stock nissan alarm. Is there a way to disable it? I only need the doors to lock and unlock. I dont really need the alarm. I tried pulling the fuse, but the horn is part of the alarm so then the horn doesn't work when you do that. I live in Atlanta. I need the horn.

I'm trying to figure this out as well to help a friend out. My friends doesn't go off randomly, but when you unlock the drivers side door. His workaround is to manually unlock the passenger side and then unlock the doors using the door lock switch. He has the stock Nissan alarm as well. I haven't tested this yet, but I'm more than likely going to pull the door panel off and check the wiring for the locks just to see if there is a short somewhere. Just out of curiosity, how is the battery in your vehicle? My girlfriends 2013 Sentra acts all weird when the battery started acting up.

According to this thread, it was a door latch which needed adjusting.

I have replaced the front passenger side switch. Let's see what happens.

Replaced the driver side switch and that solved the problem!

Nice. I think the consensus is that the door switches cause it.
