Bilstein 4600 series shocks

Postby Code Pathfinder » Mon Jul 30, 2018 8:08 pm

Its been a busy summer for me. Done with High school and transitioning into college life pretty soon.

Any who, i got around to getting my Bilstein shocks installed on my 09 Pathy.

I attempted to install the shocks myself earlier in June but couldn't get the top and bottom bolts loose (MN car I know :( )

I gave up and called around for quotes. I settled for a local mom and pop auto shop who did it for $127. They installed the shocks in 50 minutes and I was gone.

Here are the shocks.

The technician told me he had troubles with the bolts as well. He used a high torque impact gun, wrench, and blowtorch to get the bolts out. He added a CRAP ton of anti seize to the shaft of the bolts when he was done installing the new shocks.

Needless to say, I was very impressed he could get them out for me!

Shocks now done. On to the 2 inch lift kit.

Thank you!

I think they are great :)

I definitely can tell a difference now

I'm in the same boat myself (except in WI). Got the new shocks and bolts, but thanks to years of snow/ice/salt driving, the old ones are seized in there good. Bout to go shopping around for quotes...

If you're putting a lift kit into it, wouldn't you have been better off going with Bilstein 5100's instead of 4600's?

I think for moderate/light off-roading the 4600s are plenty also better deal then 5100s.

Not sure if they sell longer 5100s for the rear only real advantage.
