Coolant Leak Help Please!

Postby TheGiraffe » Wed Sep 19, 2018 1:23 pm

2010 Pathy LE v6 4WD 131k miles and a coolant leak. Please see the pictures below. Can I use JB waterweld around them to stop both lines from leaking? I don't want to dump any more money into this thing. These lines meet above it on a plastic junction on the firewall towards the top. One of the male hose connections got brittle and snapped off, causing the intial leak. I fixed it with a brass fitting and epoxy and no leak at that spot. Then THIS started leaking. You can see the green from the coolant around the seals where I placed the arrows to point it out. Any help?

From your pics, it looks to me like the leaks are at the rubber hose to pipe connection rather than at the plastic joints. If that's the case, you may just be able to replace those clamps with worm-gear type clamps from your local auto parts store. If the plastic joints are leaking, the only repair I'll recommend is to replace the pipe assembly. Epoxy might work for a little while, but it's usually a temporary patch rather than a repair. The plastic gets brittle due to age and the heat, which causes them to fail.

I replaced the assembly with tee fitting and eliminated the metal lines. Cost was probably under 60 bucks. The original plastic it super thin and it broke twice on me.

Coolant fitting broke

I cant see the pics in this thread, but sounds similar to my problem.

Today I changed out the rocker cover gaskets. I must have hit the hose on the passenger side going up and through the firewall. It snapped off flush.

I have seen threads where people have replaced this with a barbed plastic connector..can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks
