Power steering leak?

Postby dawgn86 » Sat Sep 29, 2018 9:01 am

Hi folks,

asking on this forum as I have a Pathfinder...but this is in regards to my Nissan Frontier 2008 VQ40 V6 engine

was changing the oil today and notice what looked like oil on the power steering pump, alternator, brackets, etc...I kept looking around and noticed the power steering resevoir was really low...going to go check all the hoses as best I can, but any other areas to check for a leak? Where do they normally leak from?

Thanks

I've had the power steering return hose, P/N 49725-EA005, leak on both of my R51 Pathfinders. Refer to part code "49725MA" on the part diagram linked below:

Thanks !

very helpful diagram

mine looks like it would be leaking from hose 49717m as fluid is on PS pulley and dripped down below to altenator; maybe right where it connects to the pump.

Yeah, the suction hose is another common area for leaks on many Nissans.
