Towbar tech stuff

Postby Graham W » Fri Oct 12, 2018 6:38 am

Had a chat with Bosal Towbars of Germany today ref wanting to put rescue shackles on the bottom of the towbar.

Image for easy seeing/thinking.....

They gave me these values :-
Manufacturer: BOSAL
Code: 017-072
Product: Trailer Hitch
D-Value [kN]: 14,5
Drawbar Load [kg]: 120
Inspection Tag: EC0016
Towed Weight [kg]: 3000
Trailer Hitch: with rigid ball head

Any one know what the D-Value is??

I know the drawbar load is the downward load/ hitch load.

They couldnt say if i could put a 6000kgs breakpoint shackle at the bottom for a rescue rope, more secure then throwing it over the head.

Thoughts??

For those whom also would like to know....

D-Value [kN]: 14,5 ............The towball strenght value +/- the drawbar load
Drawbar Load [kg]: 120......Nose weight/ Downward ball weight
Inspection Tag: EC0016
Towed Weight [kg]: 3000....Pulling weight braked trailer

Ive ordered some 6000kgs snap value swivel shackles and D shackles to
attach at the bottom for a secured rescue point.
