Cool gonna check it out... BTW I see your a moderator .. Is there a for sale section on here? Wanting to get a used Pathfinder (2008-2012) for the wife
We have a "classifieds" section, but it is mostly parts. Occasionally you might find someone selling the whole vehicle.

Is a symptom of this fan clutch going bad that your fan will appear "loose" i.e. you can grasp it and wiggle it about 1" at the ends of the blades?

My truck is also very loud, sounds like a semi and I just thought this was normal. And I get 15mpg normal, 18hwy, and I am not betting that actually I needed a fan clutch this whole time.

Anyone have input on the fan blade being loose like mine is. Is this ok to drive a few more days while I wait for a part to arrive?

The looseness in the fan could be due to a bad fan bracket assembly; sometimes the bearing will fail and cause play in the shaft, causing the fan to wobble. There have been some issues with aftermarket versions of the fan bracket, so still with genuine Nissan parts.

FYI, I dug into it today. The issue is entirely my fan clutch. From what I understand this thing is filled with a liquid normally. Clearly that liquid has leaked out all of the clutch and fan. So now the fan is almost entirely locked up and doesn't spin freely at all. Also the fan clutch is 100% where the wobble is coming from.

I am on the way to the dealership shortly to get a replacement part.

Hopefully this info helps someone else!

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I would try here.

My 2010 with 90k miles has a loud fan on start up, it sounds like the vehicle is "roaring". It gets quieter once warmed up, but then under load when driving, the fan gets louder as engine speed rises.

My fuel mileage has gotten extremely bad, and I suspect that this roaring fan is contributing.

Would the clutch replacement help my issue?

I'm going to say the fuel economy issue is separate.

That being said, nobody wants to be driving around the Costco parking lot sounding like a hovercraft. I've tried both aftermarket and OEM Nissan fan clutches, and based on my experience, you have to go with OEM.

Its an easy job, takes about 30 minutes. And it will quiet things down a lot.

Has anyone had any luck with any particular aftermarket clutch? I was hoping to buy a $50-70 aftermarket clutch in lieu of the OEM 21082-EA200 $200 piece.

Stick with genuine Nissan. You should be able to get it for $175 from NissanPartsDeal.com or CourtesyParts.com. Aftermarket fan clutches have always had issues on Nissans for whatever reasons, including the pre-2005 trucks.

I replaced the fan clutch this past weekend with an OEM unit, and the truck is extremely quiet now. One of the nuts attaching the fan clutch to the pulley was stripped, so I had to go to a mechanic to have him take off that one bolt.

However my heat isn't working. I removed the radiator top hose to wiggle out the upper rad shroud, and in the process spilled some rad fluid. Is it possible I either introduced air in the system, or I am low on rad fluid which is adversely impacting the heating?

I'd just top it off.

Top off the coolant and park it uphill (nose uphill). Start the engine, turn front and rear heaters on maximum heat settings and run the engine 2000-3000 RPM for 10 mins. or until hot air comes out of the heater vents.

If you read through the thread, genuine Nissan is the only way to go. There have been too many problems with aftermarket units. For decent prices, try NissanPartsDeal.com or CourtesyParts.com.

Cheapest I've found it so far was at Tasca. https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ni ... 21082ea200. The total to my place comes out to $177.94. Shipping was $22.47.
