Hi

I recently bought a Pathfinder R51 2007 and thought is would be good to obtain a copy of the Consult 3 software.

I downloaded and installed it but cannot get is to connect with my car. Do I need a special cable or adapter to use this software or will standard OBD2 cables work?

I tried 2 different versions V65 & V83 but can't get either to respond.

Just wondered is anyone else had used it and might be able to point me in the right direction.

Thanks

This sounds like a SMJ question. He's the resident Nissan gray beard here and used to be a Nissan master tech. Hopefully he chimes in. I'm curious myself Smile

Thanks for the post...I searched around the internet and from what I can see...you need a Nissan specific cable...which are pricey!

Although an experienced tech may have another solution...maybe there is an aftermarket/clone cable that will work.

I also have a Jaguar and have a dedicated laptop with Jag software and cable which has been invaluable over the last two years...so I was hoping to have the same facility with the Nissan.

Much easier to check and diagnose the vehicle at home before embarking on potentially expensive dealer checks and repairs.

Usually you need the interface and a subscription to run CONSULT III software on your laptop, plus a security card to work on the immobilizer system, as needed.

Unless you are looking to do a lot of ECM programming and key programming, I don't feel it's worth it to have CONSULT III when there are scan tool options for the same cost or less that will allow you to do the same things, but on all vehicles, not just Nissan products.

If you want a good scan tool for the typical DIY'er, check out the Autel line-up. I use the MX808 Maxicheck, which I picked up for $365 a couple of years ago. It allows me to do all system code checks, view live datastream and has relearn capabilities. If you need any more than that, you can spend a little more and move up to one of the higher Autel diagnostic tools.
