Sure. I use ethanol 87 octane with no problems in my 08.

I wondered that. Right on the Gas door panel it suggests using premium. So I've been running Premium and a mix of mid grade but, wondered about the 4.0 L performance with 87 grade gas.

Good to know it doesn't harm anything. With Canadian Gas prices being what they are, I may just start running the 87 Octane, soon.

Yes.
For best performance I use premium but the price difference to regular is so big and the performance difference so small I wont fault anyone who uses regular.
89 especially is fine.

IME, 91 octane is around a $.75 to $1 per gallon than 87 octane. I run 87 except when towing my boat in the mountains. On the flat and around town, 87 works fine.

I run 87 octane. I didn't notice any mileage difference between that and premium. It runs fine. Now I run it with a Superchips 87 octane performance tune.

Not sure if available to you, but sometimes Costco has 93 octane for only $.30 more a gallon. Anything more costs, i stick to regular 87.
